BioFil-AL Neutralization and Dilution Tanks
General Information
Neutralization is the process whereby acids and alkalis are rendered harmless. The degree of neutralization can be measured by a system known as pH (positive Hydronium ions). The degree of measurement is a pH number of 7, which is neutral. Acids range from 0 to 6.99. Alkalis range from 7.01 to 14. The smaller the number, the higher the content of acidic waste. The higher the pH number, the higher the alkaline waste.
Product descriptions
BioFil-AL Neutralizing and Dilution Tanks are rotationally molded from virgin High Density Polyethylene conforming to ASTM D1248 for Polyolefin materials. Tanks can be used for service up to 140ƒF. Tops are bolted or fusion welded to the Engineer's Specification, with all fittings made of Polyethylene and welded into all penetrations of tanks.
BioFil-AL Neutralizing and Dilution Tanks are designed to receive, dilute, and neutralize corrosive and harmful chemical wastes before allowing such material to be discharged into the public sewers or the environment. Neutralization of corrosive, toxic, and flammable wastes is necessary to the environment and piping systems. Such wastes can cause physical damage to a building’s piping or outside sewer systems and, if effluent is being discharged to the environment, severe damage can result to wildlife and water sources.
Tanks are seamless with uniform wall thickness and are free of stresses. Can be used for service at 180°F in continuous service, or intermittent use of 212°F. Tanks are complete with cover and can be special ordered in sizes up to 2400 gallon. Limestone chips are being used in numerous applications to help neutralize chemical bearing wastes.

Media
Cosmoball media provided in the tanks for biological process enhancement by establishment of effective contact between the microorganism and the organic pollutants in the effluent.
It is recommended that the limestone chips be one to three inches in diameter size range and have a calcium carbonate content in excess of 90%. The following chart shows approximate limestone usage. In commercial and industrial laboratories the number of lab stations in the table should be divided by two. See chart for recommended limestone usage.
Testing
BioFil-AL's neutralization tanks must not be pressure tested. Test tank by filling with water prior to use and inspect for any leaks.
